Obituary

FREIWALD- William, 97, Johnstown. Passed away September 5, 2023 at home. Born June 1, 1926 in Johnstown. Son of Raymond and Edith (Ludwig) Freiwald. Preceded in death by parents, wife Shirley M. (Englehart), brothers Walt and Ray, and sisters Edwarda Bagwell, Marg Schrader, Eda Mae Croyle and Joann Curley. Survived by children, Jim (Barbara Saia) of Harrisburg, Bill (Sara Hoyland) of Johnstown, Joyce Freiwald of Johnstown, and Chris (Becky Deist) of Johnstown; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Clement Catholic Church. William was a WWII Veteran and a proud member of the Seventh Armored Division. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He retired from Penn Machine as a supervisor. At the request of William, there be no viewing. However, a funeral mass will be held 11:00, Tuesday at St. Clement Catholic Church. Father William Rosenbaum, officiating. Entombment and military service will be held at Grandview Mausoleum. Arrangements by John Henderson Co. Funeral Home. www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
