W. Michael Prohonic, Jr.

W. Michael Prohonic, Jr., 66, Richland and Indian Lake, died September 15, 2020. Born April 21, 1954 in Windber, son of W. Michael, Sr. and Pauline (Kotzan) Prohonic. Preceded in death by father, and brother, Daniel. Survived by mother; children, W. Michael, III, and Michelle; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; siblings, Patte (David Bechtold); Thomas (Pamela Hoover); and James (Kristin Hoover); fiancée, Marjorie O’Brien; sister-in-law, Heidi Prohonic; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. Michael was the founder and owner of Protective Security for 38 years, which became the groundwork for five other businesses. By request, there will be no public viewing. A funeral mass will be held 10AM Friday at St. Benedict Church with Father David Peles as celebrant. Committal, Richland Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required for those attending.
