Vivian (Kauffman) Deist

Vivian Deist, 87, Johnstown, passed away August 17, 2018 at Amber Springs-Laurelwood. Born February 11, 1931 in Johnstown. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Rosezetta (Carbaugh) Kauffman. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 54 years, Charles R.; sister Monie Churchey; infant sister, Betty Jane Kauffman and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Survived by daughters, Becky wife of Chris Freiwald, Vicki wife of Rick Waddell and Mandi wife of Jim Grassa; grandchildren, Christa (Gerry) Newton their children, Addy, Bria and Elliott, Mandi (Curt) Cutler and their children, Makayla, Rylee and Zoe, Beth (Sam) DiGuardi and baby due in January, Becca Deist (Eric Nealen), Lindsay (AJ) Rypczyk and their children Drew and Rosalyn, Jason Grassa and Josh Grassa; brother, Gene Kauffman and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, her fur baby, Lucy Goos. She was a member of Westmont Church of the Brethren. She liked bowling, puzzles, scrap booking, camping and making crafts. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to watching them play soccer. She graduated from Westmont in 1949. Friends will be received Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
