Verna Mary Romanko

Verna Mary Romanko, 75, eldest daughter of Thomas A. and Verna (Strank) Romanko, left this earth behind Monday afternoon, October 30, 2023 from Windber Medical Center. She died surrounded by her family and caring friends. Born December 15, 1947 in Johnstown, she lived her life in East Taylor Twp. She was a homemaker, caregiver to her three kittens, cookbook collector, and was proud of her cooking and baking. Verna Mary, who liked to be called "Mickey" was the sender of greeting cards, remembering friends' important dates, addresses and phone numbers. She enjoyed the company of special friends, Diana and Ron Mock, Georgene and Bill Dubovecky, Suzan Mulkey. The members of the Slavich and Smith families, her neighbors, the Christners and Rovanseks and her friends at Martella's were all very important to her. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Ann and brother-in-law, Robert Huston, and special friend Rosemary Slavich. She is survived by her sister, Donna, and brother-in-law, William Riggle; and special cousins, Kathy and Barry Romanko, and their family. Friends will be received Saturday, November 4th, from 10 until 11AM, the time of funeral liturgy, at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 217 4th Street, Conemaugh, PA. The Rev. Dr. Robert Oravetz officiating. Committal will follow at the church cemetery. The family is being served by Henderson-Makuchan Funeral Home, 434 First St., Conemaugh.
