Susan Diamond Obituary
Susan E. Diamond, 87, of Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully at home with family on August 20, 2026. Born on April 13, 1939, she is survived by her daughter, Terrie Glass, and son Scott Glass. Her beloved husband, Ralph Diamond and son Rick Diamond, who both predeceased her, were surely waiting with open arms to greet her in heaven. Also surviving are her grandchildren and their partners, CeJay and Damon, Danielle and Dane, Tyler and Kierra, Alex and Justin, Elizabeth and Evan, as well as her great grandchildren, Tatum, Layah, Tanner, Damon and Carter.
Susan had a family just as dear to her who were not blood relatives but family in every other possible way. She was raised not only by her mother, Ella Reese, but also by Susan and Harold Benford. Growing up, she told other children that she had two mothers and a father, and she was proud of that fact. The Benfords, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended relatives were all very dear to her. She was delighted to spend time in recent years with Pat, Erin, Tara and Aaron, Ryan and Harper, and her evening calls with Pat were regular entertainment!
Susan's faith and her church family were central to her life. She was a devoted member of the Moxham Church of the Brethren for over 70 years and was grateful to be welcomed into the Walnut Grove Church these last 5 years. She appreciated the Walnut Grove congregation and was grateful for those who kept up with her even when she was unable to attend. She retired from many years of service at Ameriserv Bank and still greeted old customers and colleagues when she saw them. She enjoyed the monthly lunches with her old high school classmates, appreciated friends she met at the Richland Towers and never met a dog she didn't pet.
Susan was the kind of unusual person who was strong and determined, while also being deeply compassionate, accepting and humble. She continued to grow and change her entire life. She was generous and kind, and she loved with the kind of unconditional love exemplified by Jesus. Those who were loved by her have been enriched and will eagerly await the day when they are reunited with her warm hugs, broad smile and hearty laugh.
A memorial service will be held at the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren on Sunday, August 30, at 1:30 pm. Greet the family in the sanctuary before and after the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the causes Susan cared about: Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren food pantry, the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer's Association. John Henderson Co.
