Sophie Pantano

PANTANO - Sophie "Sally", 91, died November 11, 2020, at The Lutheran Home at Johnstown.  Born in Johnstown, daughter of Nick and Catherine (Casper) Szpet.  Preceded in death by parents, husband, Anthony "Tony" Pantano, Jr., who died in 1990, sisters, Mary "Minnie" Speck and Ann Grados, brothers, Pete Szpet and John Speck, and grandson, David Pejack.  Survived by children, Darlene Pejack, Donna Vitko, widow of David Vitko, and Anthony Pantano III, married to former Linda Adams, all of Johnstown, grandchildren, Tonya Pejack (partner, John Felosky), Stephanie Onufer, married to Michael, Anthony Pantano IV, married to Sandia, Dawn Marie Terrizzi, married to John, Adam Pantano, married to Roxsana, Jillian Vitko; great-grandchildren, Anthony Pantano V and Mikayla Pantano, Mikey and Mia Onufer, and Aria and Ophelia Terrizzi. "Mema" enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and attending their events.  She loved preparing homemade spaghetti and meatballs for Sunday family dinners.  She spent many happy hours rollerskating at Johnstown's Roseland in her teen years.  She was employed by Kresge  Department Store in downtown Johnstown following high school graduation and spent many years employed by Bestform Foundations before retiring in 1990.  Member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church.  A private service will be held on November 14 for the family at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Avenue.  Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visitation BVM Church Covid-19 Relief Fund, 1127 McKinley Avenue, Johnstown, 15905.  We will miss her bright smile and loving ways.
