Shirley M. Johnston

Shirley M. Johnston, 90, Johnstown, died December 4, 2021 at Memorila Medical Center. Born August 13, 1931 in Johnstown, daughter of F.G. "Toby" and Lorna (Lawhead) Johnston. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Anita Anderson; and niece, Amy Tapparo. Survived by siblings; Dr. Gerald (Dorothy Jones); Linda Johnston; and Kathy (David Boyd); and special friends, Carol Hargnett and Mary Ann Spangler. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Okeniga Sunday School Class, and sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Ferndale Area High School, and Windber School of Nursing. She was the head nurse of the pediatric unit at Windber Hospital, and worked for Dr. Panek. Friends received Wednesday from 10 until the hour of service at 11AM at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cambria County Humane Society, or First United Methodist Church.
