Finnigan, Shirley Jean (Day) 91, of Elton, PA passed peacefully at home on October 3, 2023. Shirley was the daughter of Charles A Day and Minnie R Day (Hassell). Preceded in death, by her brothers Clarence and Raymond Day, and sister, Mildred Wissinger, and great grandson, Patrick James Townshend. She was the wife of John P Finnigan, Jr., for 60 years, who passed away in 2012. Mother to Reed A Finnigan, Charlotte R. Illig, and Scott D Finnigan, with whom she resided. She will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren, Daniel F Lees IV, Shannon L Phillips, Brandi M Hepfer, Kimberly D Kaschalk, Justin S Finnigan, Deanne M Townshend and Michael D Finnigan, whom was a great help to her. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren, Shane Kaschalk, Andrew Kaschalk, Caleb Townshend, Garric Hepfer, Elijah Finnigan, Sophia Finnigan, and Carson Finnigan; and one great-great granddaughter, Willow Kaschalk. Shirley graduated from Westmont High School and worked as a roller-skating car hop at The Jolly Roger in Richland, Beverly Lakes Concession Stand, Westwood Drive-In Concession Stand, Penn Traffic store shoe department, and as a Nanny. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards, dice games, eating at local restaurants, and watching game shows on TV. She also enjoyed camping at Shawnee State Park. Shirley was a former member of Westmont Baptist Church, and Hilltop Baptist Church, and attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at hendersonfuneralhome.com to help cover the funeral costs. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
