Sheldon Yerty

Sheldon Yerty, 85, Passed away March 5, 2023 in Sebring, FL. Born in Roaring Springs, PA on March 3, 1938. Son of Anna and Orville Yerty. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Marjorie (Rager), brothers, Landis and Byron Yerty and sister, Avonell Garrett. Survived by wife, Gail (Shirk) Yerty; sons, Duane (Virginia) Yerty and Jack (Tammy) Thornton; grandsons, Derek Yerty, and Cory (Shasta) Thornton, great grandsons, Jacob and Joel Thornton; brother, Cordell Yerty; sisters, Audrey Peiffer and Sonja Malloy; sister-in-law, Donna (Roger) Bracken; brothers-in-law, Jack (Kellee) Shirk, and James (Sharon) Knauer. Also, survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his three dogs, Digger, Duke and Bandit. Sheldon had been employed at Florence Mining Co. and Structures Inc. He enjoyed camping, boating, jet skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling and showing his 1957 Thunderbird at car shows. Also, rebuilding cars and painting them over the years. He very much enjoyed going to Florida over the years during the winter months. Friends will be received Saturday from 1:00 until time of funeral service at 3:00 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Avenue. Rev. Margie Kiefer, officiating. A committal service at Benshoff Hill Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Taylor, volunteer fire company, truck fund.
