Ruth Fay (Shirt) Updyke

Ruth Fay Updyke, 92, Windber, died September 2, 2019 at Amber Springs. Born April 25, 1927 in Windber. She was the daughter of Edward Rennie and Hester Mary (Vaneiken) Shirt. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Thomas G.; daughter, Emily; son, Daniel; grandson, Michael Updyke and great grand daughter Tessa Updyke. Survived by children, Thomas C. married to Kathleen (Baranik), Donald married to Deborah (Miller), Mary married to James Albert, grandchildren, Denice, Matthew, Jonathan, Dustin, Melissa, Christina, Jace and Samantha; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved sitting on her porch swing, crocheting and reading her bible. She also enjoyed traveling and feeding the birds and deer. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am. Interment Richland Cemetery.
