Ruth A. Oravec, 90, Johnstown, passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 26, 2026 at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born December 21, 1935 in Johnstown daughter of Karl and Mary (Rusnak) Matas. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Joseph, Karl, David, Albert, and Daniel; and sisters, Mildred Burda, Mary Fabry, and Caroline Britten. Survived by children, Steven Oravec, and Renee Macari; grandsons, Daniel and Matthew Macari; siblings, Paul (Esther); Raymond (Elaine); Ronald (Judy); Donald (Barbara); Dorothy Marley; and Martha Fabick (Raymond); and sister-in-law, Esther Matas. Ruth attended the Church of God in Woodvale, teaching Bible school and Sunday school. The church relocated to Elton Road and became University Park Church of God. Ruth attended church faithfully her entire life, until her final years. She was employed at the AAA for 28 years before retiring as the manager of the Richland and Ebensburg offices. Ruth was close to her family, her siblings, and nieces and nephews. She was loved by many, treasured by her children and grandchildren. She delighted in spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Ruth made every family gathering special. She will be missed so much. We are grateful she is home with her Lord and Savior. Ruth's family extends a heart-felt thank you to staffs at Aseracare Hospice, and Forest Hills Personal Care Home for the care given to her. Friends received Thursday from 11AM until the time of service at noon at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., with her nephew, Pastor Jeff Matas officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.
