Ruth E. (McKowan) Corle

CORLE- Ruth, "Ruthie", "Grams", "Rudy", age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with her family by her side. Born June 24, 1936, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe, her parents Russell and Minnie McKowan, her brother Paul, sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Jim McClain, brother- and sister-in-law Jim and Joan Havener, and brother-in-law Jerry Corle. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Trisha and daughter-in-law Rene' with whom she resided for the past 9 years, daughter Tammy Croce (Joe), Magnolia, Delaware, daughter Jodie Babich (Jack), Venice, Florida, and son Blaine (Kim), Venice, Florida. Also survived by grandchildren Roger Bock, Joe Bock (Kaycee), Carlin Duke (Jason), Sara Cowen (Phil), Eric Croce (Lydia), Robert Croce, John Roman, Katharine Roman (Sean Sonnenburg), and Ashley Dwyer (Rob), and sister-in-laws Phyllis McKowan (Dick Dadonna) and Betty Jane Couchenour (Dan), plus many loving nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. In addition, survived by best friend Roseann "Posie" Molchany and adopted daughter Julia Nesbitt. The family would like to thank Maryann Faust, her caretaker and friend, for her care and devotion. Ruth retired from Ferndale Area School District, having served as an aid and then secretary for over 20 years. She also served as a church secretary at Moxham Lutheran Church, Moxham Church of the Brethren (where she was a member), and Roxbury Church of the Brethren where she worked until she was 80 years old. Ruth was a faithful servant of God, sharing her music with thousands of people over her lifetime as a pianist, organist, and choir member.
Friends will be received from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and from 10 am until time of service at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, Central Avenue, Johnstown, PA, Pastor Brian Simmons, Tire Hill Church of the Brethren, and Reverend Nancy Threadgill, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, officiating. Entombment at Richland Cemetery mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Joe and Ruth Corle Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation (PHCC Foundation), 101 Community College Way, Johnstown, PA 15904. Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord (Matthew 25:21).
