Ronald L. Alwine

Ronald L. Alwine, 77, Johnstown, died January 12, 2021 at home. Born July 10, 1943 in Somerset. Son of Ray S. and Ruth (Wirick) Alwine. Preceded in death by parents; siblings Ray Alwine Jr. and wife Twila, Kenneth Alwine and Janie Markum. Survived by loving wife Sandra L. (Rawlings) Alwine; children Ronald Alwine Jr. (Suzanne), Sally (Kelly Stemmler), Scott Alwine (Lindsey); grandchildren Ryan Alwine, Gabriella Ruocco, Joanna Ruocco, Kenneth Alwine, Samantha Stemmler, Stephen Stemmler, Margot Alwine, Camden Alwine and Holden Alwine; siblings Lavonne (Leonard Adams), Robert Alwine, Shirley (Phil Moyer); sister-in-law Evie Alwine; several nieces and nephews. Graduate of Johnstown High School 1962. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1992 after 28 years of service then at Colony Cleaning for 12 years. Ron was a member of Park Ave. United Methodist Church where he worked for 37 years as the custodian. He served in the U.S. Navy. Ron enjoyed fishing and camping with family. He also had a passion for gardening. Friends will be received Monday from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Rev. Arnie McFarland. Interment Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset St. Windber PA 15963.
