Robert L. Solarczyk

Robert L. Solarczyk, 94, Johnstown, died October 19, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 27, 1927 in Portage, son of Stanley and Mary (Bednarczyk) Solarczyk. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Clara (Popish); infant brothers, John and Alex; brother, Joseph; sisters, Pauline and Lucia Solarczyk, Florence Bialas, and Victoria Farren. Survived by children, Lawrence J.; Robert (Cynthia Pozun); Sharon; and Stan J.; grandchildren, Roger Solarczyk, Teresa Allan (Peter), Karin Solarczyk, Kymm George (Rick), and Sarah Solarczyk; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth Moore, Kadence, Wyatt and Colton George, and Dylan Allan. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Bob was a retired machinist from US Steel, and also worked as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator. He was a musician/drummer for various bands in the area, most recently, The Johnstown Button Box Club. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Friends received 4-7PM Friday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where Vigil for the Deceased will be said. Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10AM at St. Benedict Church, with Father David Peles as celebrant. Committal, Forest Lawn Mausoleum, where military rite will be conducted by Chas. Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home Welfare Fund, 500 Municipal Drive, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
