Robert W. Hairston

Robert Wade Hairston of Johnstown, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the age of 76.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lavonne Ricke and Wade Hairston.  He is survived by his wife Won of Johnstown, daughters Cheryl H Duff (Scott) of Richmond, VA, Karen Hairston of Atlanta, GA and Nikki Durham of Johnstown.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Jay Duff (Ashton) of Richmond, VA, Christopher Duff of Washington DC, Nathan Ingram of Atlanta, GA, Tori Valentine (Andrew) of College Park, GA, Serah Simms and Easton Durham of Johnstown, and two great grandchildren, Tristan and Freya Valentine of College Park, GA.  He also is survived by his brothers Larry Hairston (Sue) of Slidell, LA, Bruce Hairston of New Orleans, LA and a sister, Helen H Babin, of New Orleans, LA, as well as several nieces and a nephew. Robert was born in Seattle, Washington and lived throughout the Midwest during his childhood.  He graduated from Fortier High School in New Orleans, and then attended Louisiana Tech.  He worked in the apparel industry most of his career for Kellwood Corp and Best Form, as an engineer and in management positions.   He later worked for Top Form and Luxottica.  Over his career, he was greatly respected as both a co-worker and mentor; and, as his career advanced, he moved throughout the southeast and internationally in Hong Kong, China and Thailand.  Robert was active in the community over the years and served in many organizations including Ducks Unlimited and Rotary Clubs.  Robert had many hobbies and had a passion for woodworking, deer hunting and fishing.  He loved people and made many handmade items for family and friends.
