Robert Ellenberger, longtime resident of the Westwood section of Johnstown, PA, has passed away at age 97. The cause of death was heart failure. For more than 60 years, he was active in various church activities: 1) First Brethren Church - usher, youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, and coach of the Bible quiz team; 2) Emmanuel Baptist Church - Sunday school teacher; 3) West Hills Community Church - greeter. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947, Mr. Ellenberger resumed his career as a truck driver. He retired at age 62. Over the course of his more than 40 year career, he worked for the following companies: Wallings; Novacks; Motor Freight Express.
His hobbies included: driving his car, target shooting, reading his Bible, completing crossword puzzles, and walking in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 78 years and a sister, daughter, granddaughter, grand-son-in-law, and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, September 15, 2025 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Streets, officiating.
