Raymond Charles Roth

Raymond C. Roth, 86, Johnstown, passed away May 19, 2023 peacefully at home. Born October 26, 1936, in Johnstown, son of Chuck and Kate (Makar) Roth. Preceded in death by parents; and wife Janice Tonski-Roth. Survived by sons, Raymond (Donna); Randolph (Laura); Richard (Shannon); and daughter Ranee (Matthew Buck); grandchildren, Robert Roth (Jessica), Justin Roth (Tatjana), Shawn Roth, Shay Roth, Noelle Roth, Bethany Roth, Logan Buck, and Hailey Buck; great grandchildren, Kaden, Andrew and Aven; brother-in-law, Brian Tonski; and loyal companion, Gracie. Ray grew up in the Morrellville section of Johnstown. He proudly served in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division. He was a man of many talents. He was a former partner with Conemaugh Meat Packing Co.. He worked in the Gautier Division of Bethlehem Steel for 20 years, and worked at SCI Somerset for 15 years in the HVAC department. In the 1970's he was the lead singer of his band, "Ray Roth and the Country Swingers". His band performed on WJAC TV every Friday night. The band opened for famous country stars, such as Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and many more. Friends received 4-7PM Tuesday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM with Msgr. David Lockard. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, where military rite will be conducted by Chas. Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.
