Phyllis Karshin, 80, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at Bickford Senior Living in Canton, Michigan. She was born on December 1, 1941 in Johnstown, PA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband the Rev. Warren S. Karshin, parents John J. and Anna Marie Streilein, and brother John K. Streilein. She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Karshin (Johnstown), Christine Karshin (Ann Arbor, Michigan), and Dana Kinder (Gibsonia, PA), son-in-law Richard Kinder, adored grandchildren Olivia and Noah Kinder, sister Sara Goughnour (Johnstown), and nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a graduate of Westmont Hilltop and Thiel College where she was a member of the Thiel Choir. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she participated in the Altar Guild, Worship Committee, the choir, Women of the ELCA, and the Knotty Ladies quilting group. Phyllis was an elementary school teacher at Ferndale Area Schools. She retired in 2002. She spent much of her retirement traveling with family, volunteering at the church, caring for family members, and being Nana to her grandchildren. Phyllis loved gardening, reading, traveling, dogs, singing, worshiping at Zion, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was the heart and soul of her family and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 4-7 Monday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Michael Van Dyke and Rev. Paula J.
