Paul Stephenson Obituary

Paul Robert Stephenson, of Davidsville, passed away suddenly at age 70 as the result of a car accident, leaving behind a legacy of music, dedication, and deep devotion to his family. Paul was born on July 20, 1955, and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Stephenson; his sister, Roberta Stephenson; and his father-in-law, Robert Porter. He was the beloved husband of Sharon Stephenson for 41 years, and a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wilkins, and her husband Ryan Wilkins, and his cherished grandsons, Porter, Boyd, and Shep, of Wilmington, North Carolina, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his son, Justin Stephenson, and daughter-in-law Leigh Anne Stephenson, of Richmond, Virginia. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Porter; brother-in-law David Porter and wife Judy; and many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom will fondly remember his warmth, kindness, and sense of humor. Paul was loved by all who knew him and was well known for his musical talent, which he shared generously throughout his life. He was a 1973 graduate of Johnstown High School. Professionally, Paul spent many years in sales, where his strong work ethic and genuine personality helped him build lasting relationships. He worked for Berkebile Oil Company during the last decade of his career and previously for Maple Mountain, where he dedicated many years of service. Kirk and the Berkebile Oil family were especially dear to him and were truly like family. When he wasn't on the clock, Paul could often be found sharing his music, playing at churches, nursing homes, and community events to bring joy to others. He enjoyed playing in numerous bands over the years, most recently with That Oldees Band of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. A man of faith, Paul was a long-time member of Frieden's Lutheran Church and had previously been a devoted member of Moxham Lutheran Church. Though his passing was sudden, Paul's impact was profound. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of music, his dedication to his family, and the many lives he touched through music. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 on Monday. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. Rev. John Barichivich and Rev. Edward DeVore, officiating. In memory of Paul, donations may be made to Frieden's Lutheran Church, Friedens, Pennsylvania, or to the charity of one's choice.
