Owen Gates Obituary

Owen E. Gates, 81, Johnstown, died January 21, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 31, 1939, in Johnstown, son of Stanford D. and Margaret (Kristoff) Gates. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Stanford "Wess"; and nephew, Clifford Gates. Survived by sisters, Marjorie Dunmeyer, Johnstown; and Shirley (Stanley Wozniak), Windber; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Gates, Johnstown; and nephews, Thomas, Robert, Louis, and Michael Gates; Scott, Shawn and Craig Dunmeyer; and Stanley Christopher Wozniak. Owen was a member of First Lutheran Church, and St. Clair Tremont Trap and Field Club. He served in the US Navy for six years. Friends received Tuesday from 10AM until the hour of service at 11AM at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., with The Rev. Walter Startzel officiating. Masks and social distancing are required by those attending. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery.
