Monica Francis (Westrick) Groebel

Monica" Mona" Frances Groebel, passed away on December 22nd, 2023, at UPMC Harrisburg, after living a wonderful fun-filled life. Born on April 25, 1942, she had a spirit for life and an amazing smile that lit up every room. She loved and cherished every friendship and above all her family. Known fondly as "Mona" by everyone. She held many titles, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Nanny. She had many jobs but the ones she cherished the most were raising her children, nanny to Cristian and Nicolae Butuceanu, granddaughter Amber Chuma, raising grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, and Landon, and lastly her great-grandchildren Amari and Avani. But Mona was much more than that. She was the life of every party, every gathering, and every heart. Monica leaves a legacy of love, warmth, generosity, and compassion that her family, friends, and acquaintances, so many that I cannot mention here, will remember her for a lifetime. Born of Herman and Mary Agnes Westrick and raised in Mundy's Corner, PA married the love of her life Alan" Bud" Groebel and had three wonderful children Brian Alan Groebel married to former Leanne Benedict, Sharon Lee Ford married to David Ford who lovingly named her "the Moaner", Mark Eric Groebel married to former Kelly Coulson. She was a mother, confidant, advisor, and caregiver to so many others in so many ways. Preceded in death by her younger brother Joseph Westrick. Sister of Edgar Westrick, MaryAnn(Craig)Shostek, Virginia Pfeiffer, Cecilia Rokavec, and Thomas Westrick all residing in the Johnstown area. Monica is predeceased by her husband Alan" Bud" Groebel. Friends will be received on Saturday, January 6, from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Johnstown PA, officiated by Deacon Rick Messina. A celebration of life will follow at The Boulevard, 165 Southmont Blvd, Johnstown Pa.
