Mary L. (Beckman) Knox

Knox - Mary Louise, 93, Johnstown, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Windber Hospice. She was born March 29, 1931, in Johnstown. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophia (Stulak) Beckman. Also, preceded in death by husband, William D. Knox, and infant son, William; brothers Harry Beckman, Thomas Beckman, and Daniel Beckman. Surviving are daughters, Barbara Parkins, and Nancy (Mark) Critz; grandchildren, Andrew Parkins, Philip (Erika Thompson) Parkins, Joseph Critz, Sadonia Critz; and great grandson, Harrison Parkins. Mary is an alumna of Johnstown High School, Class of 1949; and, Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1953, Penn State Pioneer, notably one who "had a significant impact on their community, profession, and those around them." A Greater Johnstown School District elementary teacher for 40 years, Mary valued the importance of education. Besides her family, friends, and students, she loved dining out every day, playing the piano, traveling, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and especially, her Penn State Nittany Lions. Special thanks to all of those who appreciated, cared for, and loved her. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church, Moxham. A private viewing and service will be held at Mary's request.
