She returned to classroom teaching and library instruction for the remainder of her career with the school district retiring in 1993. Margaret was a 50 plus year member of the Johnstown Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and one of the members featured in their centennial video retrospective. Margaret was an avid reader and loved to talk about the books she read. She was also an enthusiastic bridge player and enjoyed socializing over card games, especially with her very good friend, Maryann Minahan. Margaret was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the Derby Global Methodist Church in the Roxbury neighborhood which she and her family attended loyally. Margaret was deeply connected to her faith and the acts of service she performed in the community throughout her life demonstrated the love of Jesus Christ, her savior. She was beloved by her family and many friends and will be deeply missed. Margaret's determination to keep her world in balance no matter the circumstance will be her enduring legacy. At Margaret's request there will not be a viewing, however a memorial service commemorating her life will be held at Derby Global Methodist Church at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 30 and a private committal ceremony to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
