Lowell D. Hillegas

HILLEGAS- Lowell, 86, Richland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 27, 2025 at Windber Woods Senior Living. Born February 7, 1939 South Fork, PA. Son of Chester and Marion (Landers) Hillegas. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Hillegas, and special mother-in-law, Dorothy Martinec. Survived by wife of 65 years, Judy (Martinec); son Mark (Marianne) ,daughters Cheryl Hershiser (Brooke), Christine DiBuono; granddaughter Hunter Redshaw (Tyler), grandsons Lucas DiBuono and Parker Hershiser; great granddaughters Caylee and Cassidy, and nephew Shawn Hillegas.
Member of Faith Baptist Church Richland. He joined the Navy prior to being employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
Lowell enjoyed many hobbies especially when done with family. He and Judy had a craft business together, Mark & Lowell hunted together, he shared his love of gardening with Cheryl, and he always looked forward to fishing with Chris. He also was a model train enthusiast & woodworker. Lowell was never one to rest but always found something constructive or fun to do. He will be missed, but we know he is now resting with the Lord. Friends received Thursday 11AM until 1PM at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. Graveside service will immediately follow at Richland Mausoleum.
