Lorraine Danielle Brinit Bush, 76, Reading formerly of Johnstown. Passed away January 24, 2024. Born January 19, 1948 in Johnstown. Daughter of Milan and Sally (Katsolis) Brinit. Preceded in death by parents, stepmother Ruth Ann, husband George A., and sisters Constantine and Evangeline Brinit. She is survived by sisters, Mildred Brinit Snook (Dennis) and Georgia Brinit-Stiffler (Ronald Sr.); and niece and nephews, who she absolutely adored, Alexis Marie Snook and Ronald Joseph Jr., Daniel Lee and Nicolas Patrick Stiffler (Aliana G.), and childhood friend Michelle Mikesic Bender. Lorraine graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with an associate degree, and from La Roche College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art and Design. She has been working commercially doing book covers, decorator plate designs and private commissions. She taught painting and crafts at Alvernia College in Reading, PA. In 1997, Lorraine tied for 6th place in the National Pennsylvania Trout/Salmon Print Competition. She has always had an interest in horror and science fiction. Her father, who taught her as a child, suggested she enter the art competition at the 35th Famous Monsters of Filmland Convention in Crystal City, Virginia in 1993, where she won a First Place award. Lorraine said that this gave her the incentive to do more monster paintings. “It’s been a lot of fun ever since.” Friends will be received Tuesday, 1:00 until time of funeral at 2:00 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
