KOHLER- Lois J., 95, Johnstown. Passed away on April 18, 2026 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 6, 1930 in Johnstown. Daughter of Homer and Mildred (Dennison) Keefer. Preceded in death by parents, sister Doris Polantz, and brothers Clyde and Donald; sister-in-law, Joanne Keefer; and niece, Susan Keefer. Survived by daughter, Kim Morgan (John); grandchildren, Sierra Billings (Tyler) and Monique Lehnert (Timothy); and great grandchildren, Camila, Carmen, and Lincoln. She is also survived by nieces: Sandy Hunter, Mary Ann Polantz, Amy Thompson, Kay Marie Dale, Tracy Keefer, , and Kris Bucheit and Nephews: Joe Polantz, Tim Polantz; great niece Katelyn Polantz; and great nephews, Cameron Thompson, Josh Polantz, and Chad Polantz. She was a Member of First Lutheran Church. Lois graduated from Greater Johnstown High School. She received her nursing degree from the Conemaugh Hospital School of Nursing and her master's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She accepted her first nursing position at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She returned to Johnstown and worked briefly at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. With her master's degree, she accepted a position as the school nurse for the United Elementary School in Armaugh, PA. During summers she worked on the Red Cross blood mobile. Upon retiring from United Elementary School she became a Social Worker at the Presbyterian Home, now known as Quality Life Services at Westmont Woods. She enjoyed painting, bowling, skiing and golfing. She cherished her yearly trips to Cape May, a tradition she kept for over 40 years, and held a special love for Ireland. She also loved visiting Annapolis, Maryland, where she spent time with her daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters, whom she adored. Friends will be received on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10AM until the hour of service at 11AM at First Lutheran Church. Pastor Christy Harford, officiating. Interment at Grandview Mausoleum.
