Margetan – Kathy L. 63 of Richland Township passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2019 after a 19 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born September 14, 1955 in Johnstown, daughter of James and Joan Havener. Kathy was preceded in death by parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen and Michael Margetan; sister-in-law Kathy (Polca) Havener and brother-in-law Thomas Margetan. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years David; son Derek, daughter-in-law Jessica (Brumbaugh), and grandson Ethan, Hummelstown PA; sister Lynne (James) Williams of Summerville SC; brother Randy Havener Johnstown; fraternal twin Kim (David) Mucko Lancaster PA; sister Sally Havener (fiancé Steve Shuherk) Johnstown; sister Anne “Maggie” (Doug) Lohr Johnstown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and Leonard Zuravnsky Somerset; Janet and Richard Buchan Johnstown; Michelle (Reighard) and Robert Margetan Conemaugh; and many close nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Kathy was a graduate of Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech and Cambria Rowe Business College. Prior to becoming disabled by Parkinson’s Disease Kathy spent many years working as a customer service representative for 1st Summit Bank and the former Moxham National Bank. She was a life long member of the Moxham Church of Brethren where at times she served on numerous committees, sang in the church choir and was a youth group advisor. Kathy enjoyed family gatherings, vacations at the beach and especially casino trips with her sisters. She was most proud of her fundraising accomplishments in support of the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western PA. Kathy’s most recent pride and joy was the birth of her grandson last summer. She called Ethan her miracle grandson who came at a time in her life when she needed uplifted. Family and friends will be received 1-5 PM Sunday at the Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. A memorial service will be held in memory of Kathy at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Moxham Church of the Brethren 536 Grove Ave., with Pastor Daniel Rhodes officiating. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Windber Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western PA or Windber Hospice in Kathy’s memory.
