WILSON- Jon J., 84, Johnstown. "Chooch" Passed away October 30, 2025 in the presence of his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia (Barnhart). Born May 27, 1941 in Windber. Son of Robert and Augusta (Feldbauer) Wilson. Preceded in death by parents, sisters and brothers-in-law Betti and Bill Moore, Garland and Bill Moors, Fern and Ernest Custer, Phyllis Wilson, Maureen and Bill Maxwell, Robert Cameron, niece and nephew Judy and Jack Custer "brother", "grandniece Sherri Napora" and nephew Ronald Maxwell. Survived by wife; daughters, Jeanne Owens and Buffy Harris (Daniel, who was a son to him); grandchildren, Corey Owens, Ian Harris, Amanda Harris, Shawn Harris, and Jack Harris. great grandchildren, Ryder Harris and Maverick Harris; brothers-in-law, David Barnhart and Earl Leigh Barnhart; and sister-in-law, Frances Cameron. He graduated from Windber High School, Class of 1959. Jon proudly served his country for 101/2 years in the United States Army as a decorated Vietnam veteran and a paratrooper in the 17th Calvary 3rd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a distinguished Purple Heat recipient, Combat Infantryman Badge and Parachute Badge honored for his bravery and dedication to his fellow soldiers. Bethlehem Steel retiree. He was an avid outdoorsman- hunting, fishing, archery, mushroom hunting, camping and photography. Also, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Jon was very talented, custom knife maker, where he received numerous awards. He was even published in a knife making magazine. Jon excelled as a skrimshander and woodworker, even making furniture. Also, dabbled in watercolor an oil painting with superb talent. Friends will be received on Monday from 1:00pm until time of funeral service at 3:00pm at John Henderson Co.
