John L. Kopler, 93, of Johnstown passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at The Villa Crest. Born December 30, 1929, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late John and Julia (Debevec) Kopler. He attended the former Franklin High School. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation after forty-five years of service, starting in Wheel Plant and finishing at the Garage. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War Conflict and a member of Sgt Michael Strank VFW Post 5107, Franklin Borough. He loved to listen and dance to Slovenian polka music and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a current member of SNPJ Bon Air Lodge 254, and member of former SNPJ Conemaugh Lodge 44 before merging with Lodge 254. He was a member of Saint Anne's Roman Catholic Church of Moxham. Preceded in death by parents, wife Christine (Kolar) Kopler who died September 5, 2016, sisters Julia M. Kopler and Jennie F. Studer. John is survived by his sons John A. (Lou Ann) Kopler of Greensburg, PA and Thomas R. (Barbara) Kopler of Denver, Colorado; daughter Kimberly A. Kopler living at home; and numerous nieces and a nephew. By request, there will be no public viewing. A funeral mass will be held 10AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Committal, Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Anne's Church, 533 Woodland Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15902.
