Joanne Harclerode, 86, Davidsville, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with Jesus May 19, 2024 at Laurel View Village. at her side, were dear friends Sherry Hillman and Edie Heverly. She is also survived by childhood friend, Phyllis "Pat" Bradley. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Ada (Beaner) Harclerode, and brothers, Ben, Jr, and Richard in early childhood. Born December 11, 1937 in Johnstown, Joanne was known for some years as the smallest baby on record born in the city, weighing in at well under 2 pounds. Joanne was a JHS graduate, with the Class of 1956, and also a graduate of Cambria-Rowe Business School. As a young girl, she was active in Girl Scouts and different church groups. She was a member of Emmanuel Church. Joanne lived for many years in her family homestead on Irene Street in the Eighth Ward of Johnstown. She was very proud of the fact that as a duplex, the Harclerodes shared their residence with the Wagoner family, where Boyd "Buzz" Wagner lived. (He has been considered one of America's first heroes of WW II, and with whom she was acquainted. As a young adult, she was employed by Conemaugh Hospital as secretary to the director of nursing for a number of years. In her later life, she enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, embroidering, raising various house plants, doing puzzles of all kinds, and acquiring a very large collection of Stuffed bears of every type. She will be sadly missed. By request, there will be no viewing. Funeral service will be private. John Henderson Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
