Joan S. (Howard) Grafe

Joan Sue (Howard) Grafe, 88, of Johnstown. Born November 1, 1937, in Johnstown, PA. Went home to the Lord peacefully on September 28, 2026, at Laurel View Village surrounded by her family. Daughter of Irvin and Mollie (Mele) Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter. Survived by loving husband of 67 years, Robert E. Grafe; children Marsha Swansboro and Cindy (Dave) Bailey; grandchildren, Breana Bailey (Brennan Smay), Ashley (Travis) Frese and Nathan Bailey (Tony Apesos); and Grand Dogs, Milo, Luna, Beckham and Hank. She was a 1956 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and a 1959 graduate of Windber Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the Church of the Brethren Home for 30 years. She was a devoted lifelong member of Moxham Church of the Brethren where she attended Sunday School, served on the Board and Women's Fellowship. Joan was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grammy. Her family was the most important thing to her. Joan and Bob were such great role models to their children and grandchildren. She never missed an activity, game or musical that her grandchildren were in. We are truly blessed with so many wonderful memories. She was also a great friend and enjoyed many dinners out and cruises with them. Friends will be received Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm. until time of funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street, Johnstown, PA 15904, Pastor William Wenger officiating. The family asks, per Joan's request, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to Laurel View Village (The Caring Fund), 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, PA 15928 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
