James Edgar Houghton

HOUGHTON- Rev. James E. Jr. 85, Johnstown. Went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 4, 2021. Born August 30, 1935 in Salix. Son of James Edgar and Helen (Eash) Houghton. Preceded in death by parents, sister Gloria Van Slooten and daughter-in-law Michele Houghton. Survived by wife of 34 years, Sally M. (Saintz); children Cindy Clair (William), Leshia Stufft (Keith), Marcia Cahill (Bryan), Laura Wissinger (Dan), David Houghton, Jennifer Crocco (Christopher) and Dan Hill (Janice); siblings Dennis (Betty), Roger (Peggy) and Cheryl Kovalsky (Dave); 16 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He served four years in the Army Security Agency, was employed by Berkebile Brothers Inc. for 38 years as a Union Carpenter, Superintendent and President. Past Chairman of Keystone Contractors Association and past Chairman of W. PA Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. He was an Ordained Minister in the W. PA District Church of the Brethren. Served as Pastor at Fairview Church of the Brethren, Masontown and Moxham Church of the Brethren, Johnstown. Also, he served as W. PA District Board Chair and Interim Director of Camp Harmony, Hooversville. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 856 Benshoff Hill Road, Johnstown, PA 15905. Arrangements are by John Henderson Co.
