GETZ- James P., 92, Westmont. Passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025. Born April 2, 1933 in Johnstown. Son of Paul and Anna (Grech) Getz. Preceded in death by parents, step father Frank A. Beno, brother Joseph R. and sister-in-law Agnes, devoted cousin Michael A. Paluda and loving and caring friend of 32 years, Eva J. Kinol who passed away January 15, 2010. Survived by beloved nephew and his wife, Dennis and Jean Getz. Graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1951 and Cambria Rowe Business College with an associate degree. Retired from John Hancock Life Insurance Co. Member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly No. 0954 and Third Degree Council No. 175, Order of The Alhambra, 151 Vigo Caravan, Windber Country Club, Elks No. 155, Marine Veterans Association, Iwo Jima WWII where he played Taps for military services, Local 41 American Federation of Musicians. Jim had a passion for music and started playing dance work at the age of 15. He played with many local bands including his own band "Nice and Easy" where he played muted trumpet and bongo drums at the Holiday Inn (downtown) for 14 years. Jim was a considerate and giving individual, who was an usher at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church. A private service will be held at a later date. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
