Jack Merritts Obituary

MERRITTS-Jack C., 88, Johnstown. Passed away August 8, 2024. Born February 4, 1936 in Johnstown. Son of the late Lewis and Rose (Eash) Merritts. Also, preceded in death by brothers Donald, Robert, Dallas and James, sisters-in-law Virginia Firm and Patricia Hillegas, brother-in-law Charles "Bill" Watt and stepson Joel A. Wilkinson II. Survived by wife, Sandra "Candie" (Jordan) Wilkinson; children, Susan Sheehan and Sharon Fetzer (Kurt); stepdaughter, Gretchen Wilkinson Orris (Ron); grandchildren, Eric (Brooke), Michael (Abby) and Kelli Sheehan, Nicholas (Olivia) and Morgan Fetzer; step grandchildren, Tyler and Alekesandra Orris, Amanda, Zack and Heather; great granddaughter Olivia Sheehan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of Westmont High School. Served honorably in the US Air Force. Retired from Bethlehem Steel with 20 years' service and from the US Postal Service with 12 years of service. Member of NALC Branch 273, Lancaster, PA and the Rise and Stride Walkers, Galleria Mall. He enjoyed attending the grandchildren's sporting events, going on road trips and going to casinos with his beloved wife Candie. Services will be private. Donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warriors or charity of choice. Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills is in charge of arrangements.
