Helen A. Gilchrist, 107, died July 25, 2020 at the Lutheran Home. Born July 2, 1913 in Altoona. Daughter of Andrew and Louise (Ruch) Yost. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert M. Gilchrist; infant son, Lance R.; siblings, Fred Sr., Albert, Edward, Herbert, Bertha, Gladys, Ruth Yost and Eleanor Dishong; daughter-in-law, Diane Reznar and Hope Epstein (Duane's fiance). Survived by children; Keith D. of Wisconsin, Barry R. married to Julia (Yuhas) of Johnstown, Duane B. of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Keane of Wisconsin, Christine of Pittsburgh, Amanda Helen (Whitney Menarcheck) of Pittsburgh; special niece, Edie Heverly and special nephew Harry Dishong; also numerous nieces, nephews, She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the American Red Cross for many years. Helen is the longest surviving member of the Andrew Yost family and a longtime resident of Westwood, since 1951. She graduated from CVMH School of Nursing in 1934. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the care provided to Helen at the Lutheran Home by their staff and the staff of 365 Hospice. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions all services will be private. Pastor Toby Holland will be officiating the service. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment Grandview Cemetery. John Henderson Company Funeral Home is serving the family.
