Gregory Rance Thompson, 67, went to be with The Lord on January 2nd, 2024. Born on July 15, 1956 in Johnstown, PA to Gersilee (Mickens) and Matthew Thompson. Preceded in death by parents, brother Marion (Matthew), and sisters, Tiajuana and Karen. Raised in East Conemaugh and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Survived by wife, Susan; daughters Terri (son-in-law James Britt) and Evita; grandchildren: Jaden, T'Kiah, Jabreya, Jakaria, Jeremiah, Ari'Anna, and James Jr.; stepsons: Mike, Aaron, James, and Eddie; god-son: Ravon; siblings: Geraldine (Pete) of FL, Hannah of SC, Bernadine of TX, Melinda of MI, Tommy (Angelina) of TX, and Eddie of PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was everybody in town's 'Uncle Yak'. Rance attended Joseph Johns High School. He was employed at JHA for several years. He was also on the janitorial staff at FCYFA gym, and most recently, at St. Vincent DePaul. Rance was a jack-of-all-trades and literally good at everything! He loved to dance to his oldies music and always threw the best birthday parties. Rance was a Steelers fan, pool shark, fisherman, and an amazing artist. He loved his weekly Pinochle games with his West End buddies. Uncle Yak was the funniest uncle and made everyone laugh. He knew everyone and he loved everyone. Friends and family will be received at Henderson Funeral Home (215 Central Avenue Johnstown, PA 15902) on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, at 11am for a memorial service.
