Gregory Alan Monk, 48, Johnstown, died January 24, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Born February 17, 1971 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by grand parents Maurice K. Shaffer Sr., Orpha Wirick Shaffer, Marianne Galloway; uncle Maurice K. Shaffer Jr.; step sister Gwen Cosgrove; step nephew Jesse Galloway; special friend Terri Barkhimer. Survived by parents Bonnie and Earl W. "Bill" Galloway; brother Jeffrey Monk married to Cathryn; step brothers Todd Galloway married to Sue, Troy Galloway and Jay Galloway; aunt Sue Shaffer; uncle Gary Shaffer married to Jan; step grandmother Doris Shaffer; special great aunt Marion Lohr; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Greg was a walking miracle since the age of 6. He was active in many things including, a member of BPO Elks lodge 175, he volunteered at the BPOE 175 Cruise Classic Car Show. He loved to hunt and play billiards and won many tournaments. He loved to bake cakes, banana bread and potato soup and share it with his family and friends. Greg looked forward to the family picnics where he would play softball, volleyball, tennis and go swimming. He loved everyone he met from the young to the old. All who knew him said he was the kindest, most gentle person they ever met. Graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School. He owned Monks lawn care and delivered fire wood. His clients loved him. He also had a love for animals, the family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cambria County Humane Society. Friends will be received Tuesday from 1:00 until the time of the memorial service at 3:00, at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Pastor Robert Kaltenbaugh.
