Gloria Mendelson, in the care of hospice, passed away comfortably and content in her home on February 8, 2018, at the age of 92. A lifelong resident of Johnstown, Pa., (and also a winter resident for the past 28 years in Palm City, Fla.), Gloria never sought to be the center of attention, so it is no surprise she wanted her obituary to merely state: “She lived; she died.” Live she did, enriching the lives of her family and friends. Her love, her laugh, her impeccable standards, and her beautiful red hair will continue to live on in the hearts of all the lives she touched. She is survived by the love of her life for more than 66 years, her husband Leon, and by their sons: David (Anne), Robert (Debra), and James (Elissa), whom she liked to call her three “cherubs;” grandchildren: Laine (Kyle Mish), Maura (Donald Withers), Elyse (Ian Tendick), Patrick, Conor, Lauren, Jesse, Samuel, Cara, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren: Lydia, Lucas, and Jensen. She is also survived by her caregiver, Jessica Warner, who made Gloria’s final days so peaceful. She was preceded in death by her beloved Neafach siblings: Eva (Rapoport), Irving, Harold, Helen (Paul), Jeannette (Robbins), and Betty (Weissberg); and her parents: Israel and Ida. At Gloria’s request, there will simply be an interment service for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of each donor’s choice. Arrangements are by John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave.
