Gaye Petz Obituary

PETZ- Beverly Gaye, 73, died June 23, 2020 at home with her family. She was born April 2, 1947 in Norfolk, VA to Robert F. and Betty Grace (Griffith) Petz. She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents Joseph and Emma (Boyle) Petz, and Llewelyn and Elizabeth (Dobson) Griffith, uncles "Butch" Griffith, Gene Petz and grandson Cody R. Minick. Gaye is survived by her mother; daughter Jill Minick (Matt); granddaughter Casey Minick; sister Barbara Kent (Reg) with whom she and her mother have lived for the last 17 years; nephew Bruce Kent (Nan) and their children and grandchildren; niece Alexandra Stafford (Tyler) and daughter Emma; nephew Connor Kent (Morgan) and their twins Jackson Walker and Oakley Grace; niece Grace Kent; cousins Butch, Jeff, Ellen and David as well as best friends Cozette, Pam, and Pat and too many others to list. Gaye was a 1965 graduate of Richland Twp. High School and a cheerleader for 6 years. She was head cheerleader for two years. She was a graduate of Career Academy in Washington, DC as a Medical Assistant. After a stint in a Johnstown dermatology office, she managed the jewelry dept. at Dank's in State College, before coming to work at the family business, Griffith and Petz, Inc. Gaye lived with Type I Diabetes for over 57 years, which lead to heart disease. First and foremost, Gaye was a warrior for Jesus Christ and offered the Truth of His Salvation to everyone she met. She now rests with Him, healthy, happy, safe and holding her grandson, Cody. A private memorial service will be announced at a later date at West Hills Community Church. Contributions, in Gaye's memory, may be made to the Building Fund at WHCC, 2301 Sunshine Ave., Johnstown, PA 15905, or to your favorite charity. If you only remember one thing about our beautiful Gaye, it should be that if she met you, she was praying for you to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, just as she had. Gaye entered this life with gusto and she left as gracefully as a feather on a breeze. John Henderson Co. is in charge of arrangements. www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
