ALVARES- Floyd Calvin, 74, Johnstown, passed away at home on August 18, 2020. Born July 1, 1946. Son of Anna Alvares (Chubara.) Preceded in death by wife Janet Ann (Lehman); mother and loving brother Maurice "Premo." Survived by his sons, Kenneth Smith married to Amelia (Wagner), Brian K. Smith Sr. married to Amy (Sherman), both of Johnstown, Floyd A. Alvares married to Tina (Robb) of Berlin; daughter Laura Ann (Alvares) Hartman married to Brian of Hagerstown, MD; brothers, Anthony J. married to Patricia (Rush) of Dallas, TX, Dave married to Mildred (Eppolito) of Johnstown; and sister, Katherine (Alvares) Mastovich married to Michael Sr. of Franklin Borough; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. A graduate of Johnstown High School Class of 1964. Also, he was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS F.D. Roosevelt (CV42) where he was initiated into the Royal Order of Shellbacks in 1967. A member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 354. Lifetime member of the Woodvale Athletic Club and BPOE #175. Also, a member of VFW post #155 and the American Legion post #0633. Member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 606 Maple Ave. There will be no public viewing. However, a Funeral Devine Liturgy will be held Saturday at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rev. James Davidson will be officiating. ( Masks and Social Distancing are Required). Interment at Grandview Cemetery. John Henderson Co. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
