F. LaVerne (McGowen) Eckstein

Eckstein, Faye LaVerne, "LaVerne", 93, passed away at home October 31, 2020. Born April 20, 1927 in Johnstown. Daughter of James William "Bill" and Susan (Rhoades) McGowen. Preceded in death by parents; husband Harold C. Eckstein, infant sister Shirley McGowen; brother William R. McGowen; son Alfred Wallace "Wally"; daughter-in-law Nancy (Pullen) Eckstein; son-in-law Richard "Dick" Trotz, and infant grand daughters Tara and Taylor Trotz. Survived by loving children, Arlene Edie; Jeffrey "Duff" (Sharri); Gregg; and Nancy Trotz; grandchildren Debbie(Jim) Zaracki; Matt(Amy) Edie; Erika Eckstein; Craig, Heidi and Heath Eckstein; Kevin and Brian Eckstein; Zachary(Brittany) Trotz; Tiffany(David) Thompson; and numerous loving and special great grandchildren. LaVerne was a graduate of Johnstown High School. After graduation she worked in the record department at Penn Traffic for several years. And then moved on to selling furs for the Canadian Fur Company in downtown Johnstown. She was a stay at home Mom and loved her family dearly. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was the strength behind the Eckstein family. She was a life long member of Second Presbyterian Church. Her faith and family were the most important things in her life. Friends will be received Tuesday November 3 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at Noon at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Committal service at Grandview Cemetery.
