Eugene Vamos

VAMOS- Eugene C. "Geno", "Yuds", 88, Johnstown. Passed away on December 27, 2025 at Memorial Medical Center. Born December 21, 1937 in Johnstown. Son of John and Mary (Lacko) Vamos. Preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Carol (Hahn), siblings Steven Vamos, Mary Vamos, Anna Bizjak, Helen Wildner, Margaret Kuba, Elizabeth Blanar, Dorothy Demarco, Veronica Sheshock, Frank Vamos and Richard Vamos, and sons-in-law Thomas Faust and Henry Eisenhuth Jr. Survived by wife of 36 years, Donna (Riek); children, John Vamos (Annette), Robert Vamos (Jenna), Marcy Faust, Diane Shaffer (Bill), Deborah Eisenhuth, Denise Thompson (David), Darla Thompson (Ron) and Butch Zwick; grandchildren, Jessica, Morgan, Nathan, Jordan, Matthew, Michael, Stephen, Jon, Brittany, Chad, Courtney, Tyler, Lindsay, and Katelyn, and 101/2 great grandchildren; siblings, John Vamos, Joseph Sefcik and Theresa (Sefcik) Christofis. Also survived by his buddy, Spunky. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Brownstown, Brownstown Fire Hall, and Croatian Hall. Co-Founder of the Notre Dame Club, Rat Pack Club. Proud Navy Veteran prior to retiring from Verizon (formerly GTE) after 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved his family. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3-7 at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00. Father Mark Begley, officiating.
