Edward Anthony Barto

Edward Anthony Barto, 87, Lemoyne, formerly of Johnstown, died April 9, 2021 at UPMC West Shore Hospital. Born June 7, 1933 in Jerome, son of Julius and Anna (Yurkowsky) Barto. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Ellen Koontz, beloved wife of David Koontz; brother, William; and sister, Helen Shook. Survived by wife, Carole (Stahl); daughters, Constance Hawkins married to John Hawkins; and Alice Urban married to Vincent Urban; grandchildren, Daniel Urban, Stephen Urban, Sarah Tozer Ferrell, Jonathan Hawkins, Erin Bollinger, and Neil Koontz; and great grandchildren, William & Aurora Bollinger, Audrey Tozer & Nora Ferrell, Kaia & Kihei Urban, Hadley Urban, Owen & Lily Hawkins. He was a member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church. Ed loved bowling, gambling, and spending time in his garden. He was an avid fisherman. He loved his family. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 41 years of service. Friends received Tuesday from noon until time of funeral mass at 1PM at Visitation BVM Church with Father John Slovikosky as celebrant. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital. John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., is serving the Barto family.
