Dennis J. Smith

Dennis J. Smith ,74, went to his heavenly home on July 25, 2024. Denny, as many knew him, was born on November 22, 1949, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He joined the US Navy at the young age of 18 and served during the Vietnam war era on the USS Cambria.  After a discharge, Denny lived in Virginia and worked as a Sears appliance technician until he retired in 2004, He then chose to move to Grapevine, Tx to be close to his mom and brother and extended family. He lived a quiet life, happily enjoying his motorcycle rides and multiple dogs all named Charlie. He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Kathryn Smith and sister Carol Ann, all from Johnstown, PA. He is survived by brother Wayne Smith and wife Yolanda from Arlington, Tx, sister Marian Parrington and husband Raymond from Absecon, New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Uncle Denny. He will also be greatly missed by his loving rescue mixed terrier name "Charlie". A graveside service will be held August 20th at 10 am at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial will be planned at a later date in Arlington, Tx. John Henderson Company Funeral Home is serving the family.
