David R. Klanchar, 81, a life long resident of Johnstown. Born May 7, 1942, son of the late Rudolph A. and Estelle (Kamiel) Klanchar. Survived by wife Helen S. (Molchany); daughter Cynthia Anne (Frank G. Kist); granddaughter Jennifer R. Kist; brother John Klanchar; sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Molchany) Chappie, Catherine (Molchany) Immerman, Joey Klanchar; brother-in-law Frank Molchany; nephew John Klanchar. David enjoyed working on cars, attending classic car shows, playing violin with his granddaughter, and meeting with friends at a weekly coffee klatch. He was a member and usher at St. Clements Catholic Church and a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he retired with the rank of Sergeant. David graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a degree in Economics. He held a variety of positions within the insurance industry and retired from Donegal Insurance Co. Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 on Friday at St. Clement Catholic Church, Fr. William Rosenbaum. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
