David Fryday Obituary

David 'Fish' Fryday of Johnstown unexpectedly passed away at home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, with his loving wife, Tracey (Daley), by his side. Born on July 21, 1958, in Wellsboro, PA, David attended Wellsboro Area High School and worked as a dark room technician for The Wellsboro Gazette, which was owned and operated by his family for several generations. David later attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and after meeting Tracey, his wife of thirty years, settled down and worked as a sales representative for MEI Systems in Somerset, PA. David was extremely proud of his home with its a large plot of land and for many years was diligent about its upkeep. Until health issues interfered, he and Tracey tended a sizable vegetable garden and generously shared the bounty with friends and family. To relax, David enjoyed watching Westerns with his wife and stopping by Red's Tavern to have a beer with friends. An animal lover, David was also devoted to the many dogs and cats that shared his and Tracey's home over the years. Besides his beloved wife, David is survived by his sister Carol (David) Fryday-Ross, his brother John (Bryan) Fryday, his aunt, Betty Jane Rutter, and his cousins, Alan and Jeff Rutter. David is also survived by a number of devoted friends, including Rob Bluett and Alexander Sadosky, as well as his high school classmate, Michele Zink, who kept in regular contact with him as his health failed. David was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Joan (Conevery) Fryday. Although no memorial service will be held, friends are encouraged to make a donation to their local animal shelter in David's memory.
