Charles, "Skip" Grosch Wissinger, 84, of Johnstown, PA, went to be with Our Lord on September 12th 2021. He was born in Johnstown, PA, on May 19th 1937. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Lou (Grosch) Wissinger. Skip was the loving husband for 62 years of MaryAnn (Polash) Wissinger, who will always be blessed with beautiful memories of her husband. Always and Forever. He was the proud and loving father of five daughters: Wendy (Wayne Dunkle), Terri (Roger Roy), Lori (John Darnley), Amy Wissinger, Vicki (Walt Olenick). Skip enjoyed his 18 grandchildren: Mike (Kathryn) Dunkle, Sarah (Nate) Balaban, Ethan (Jaclyn) Dunkle, Joe Dunkle, Patrick (Kristina) Roy, Abby (William) Weiss, John Roy, Emily Roy, Matthew Darnley, Bethany (Santiago) Rodriguez, Joshua Darnley, Chad (Nicole) Olenick, Kara (Matt) Cunnane, Anna Olenick, Ben Olenick, Jacob Olenick, Daniel Olenick, and Katie Olenick. He was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren: Emeth and Skip Olenick, Matthias Weiss, Evie Cunnane, Thomas Roy, Dean Balaban. Skip is survived by his two sisters: Betsy (and the late Donald) Worthington, Coralie (Bill) Williams, and loved nieces and nephew. Skip worked for the Conemaugh Blacklick Railroad for 44 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 467, Holy Name Society, Benedictine Oblate, Visitation Choir and Funeral Choir, Retired Men's Club, Retired Men's Club Choir, the Harmonie Singing Society, and Volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul's. Skip spent 32 years coaching basketball split between Visitation Grade School and Bishop McCort High School. He was an avid Steelers fan who instilled Steelers pride watching the games with the love and fun of his family. In his retirement, he enjoyed golf, singing, and sharing his love of Sinatra songs at nursing homes, Pathfinder School, and local music venues. His family treasured every moment with him. A dear friend said he was "a gentleman and a gentle man". Skip's faith and love of God was the balance of his life. Friends received from 10 until the time of funeral mass at 11AM Monday at Visitation BVM Catholic Church. Private entombment will follow at Grandview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Visitation Catholic Church. John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., is serving the Wissinger family.
