Betty K. (Pfeil) Sutherland

Betty K. (Pfeil) Sutherland of Westmont, went to be with our Lord on March 5, 2025. She was 92. Preceded in death by husband, John Charles Sutherland, who passed away January 1, 1970, and whom she loved until they day she died; parents, Norman Pfeil and Helen (Luczko); son, John Charles Sutherland II; brother, Ronald Pfeil and sister, Louise Minemyer. Survived by son, Wayne married to Theresa Bogovich, Johnstown, and daughters, Heather married to David Johnson, Hollsopple; Bonnie married to Daniel Bury, Seattle, WA; and Tamara Sanders, Johnstown. Also, survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Born October 27, 1932, Betty was a 1951 graduate of Johnstown High School and had served as secretary of the reunion committee. Betty left Johnstown at age 19 to work as a secretary at Warner and Swasey in Cleveland, OH, where she met John, whom she married January 29, 1954. They enjoyed a life in Spotswood, NJ, where she served as president of the PTA, and later in Erie, PA, where John passed away, after which she returned to Johnstown and resided with her five children. After serving for a time as secretary of Trinity United Methodist Church, Johnstown, she worked as a cashier and in the bakery department of BiLo/Westmont until she retired in 1997. Her favorite saying was, "Praise the Lord", and we are praising Him for her life. At Betty's request, there will be no public viewing. Those who wish, may attend a funeral service at 10AM Monday at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's.
