Barry James Orner

Barry James Orner, 79, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Villa Crest.
Born on August 19, 1946, in Johnstown, Barry was the son of the late James and Florence (Yoder) Orner.
On September 30, 1967, he married the love of his life, Karen Ann Mikas, at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion to one another.
 Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his daughter, Debra Orner, of whom he was immensely proud, and her partner, Jeff Smith; his sister, Sharon Orner; sisters-in-law, Nancy Stackhouse (Jon) and Anna Mikas; and several cherished nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in law, Bill and Evelyn Mikas, and his brother-in-law, William H. Mikas.
 A graduate of Johnstown High School, Barry furthered his education in Electronics Technology at Allegheny Technical Institute in Pittsburgh. He began his career with Westinghouse Surface Division in Baltimore, later worked at Jimmie's TV, and ultimately found his professional home at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. There, he dedicated 38 years of service and rose to become Manager of Clinical Engineering, earning the respect of colleagues through his expertise, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
 Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 9th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. His courage and sacrifice were recognized with two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman Badge, honors that reflected both his bravery and devotion to duty.
 He treasured time spent fishing with his father and, later in life, enjoyed recreational pistol shooting. Above all, he valued family and took great pride in the accomplishments and happiness of those he loved.
 The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Richard Kastelic, as well as the compassionate staffs of Villa Crest and Interim Hospice, for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Barry during his final days.
 Friends will be received Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at the John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Avenue, Johnstown.

 Entombment will follow at Richland Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by VFW Menoher Post 155.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association."
