Audrey Marie Grening

Audrey Marie Grening, 98, Johnstown, longtime Lorain Borough resident. Born Feb 16, 1927, in Johnstown. Daughter of Emil and Hilda (Nau) Grening. Preceded in death by parents, brother Robert and nephew Gregory. Survived by nieces Debra (Eugene Rager) and family, Linda (Tim Price) and family, long time care giver Mary Heinlein. Former member of Zion Lutheran Church. She attended their Salem Chapel in the Moxham area where she went to Sunday school and later taught Sunday school and played the piano until the chapel was closed in the 1960's. She became a member of Moxham Lutheran church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and played the piano in the junior department. She was a visitor to the shut ins and a member of the Fellowship Group. A 1945 graduate of the Ferndale High School. A member of the reunion committee. She had been instrumental in getting classmates together every year, the last being the 68th reunion. She had been a duckpin bowler for over 50 years. She bowled in the National Radiator Girls League until the company moved to Chicago in the 1960's. She then bowled in the Moxham Lutheran mixed league and the Lutheran Women's league. She was the winner of the Tribune-Democrat Women's Duckpin Champion of Champions 1968 tournament representing the Moxham Lutheran mixed league. She worked at National Radiator/ Crane Company for 19 years and retired from Penn Machine Company after 23 years. Audrey also worked in the former Grening Brothers grocery store on Ohio Street. Friends will be received Wednesday from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at Noon at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Interment Richland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moxham Lutheran Church.
